1969年與第一任妻子仳離後，Kristofferson 與 Janis Joplin，Barbra Streisand 及 Joan Baez 都有短暫的交往，1972年與 Rita Coolidge 在演唱會中對唱，次年他們就結婚了，這場婚姻也只維持到1980年。
